Phyla Earth at COP27 in Egypt

November 2022

Phyla co-Founders Rabih el Fadel and Harry Vernon attended COP 27 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt to showcase Phyla’s transformative land regeneration project in the Copperbelt of Zambia. Phyla’s land regeneration systems coupled with pioneering technology has enormous potential to rehabilitate abandoned sites in rural areas while addressing climate change.

Few people know about the miracle properties of Phyla’s Elite Pongamia and the Phyla team took the opportunity to educate changemakers. These trees are drought resilient and have very high metal toxicity and salinity thresholds allowing them to flourish in soil conditions that most other plants cannot tolerate, laying the foundation to revive biodiverse landscapes. The trees further contribute to positive social and economic dynamics by producing biofuels and providing farmers with highly productive, carbon removing’ perennial, drought tolerant option to increase farm revenue and power local economies.
