June 2020

Dr. Rosamund Thomas, Director and Founder of the Centre for Business and Public Sector Ethics, Cambridge, has published a paper in the Ramon Llull Journal of Applied Ethics on the challenges climate change poses for companies to act ethically.

Outlining the dangers of changing climate, Dr. Thomas expounds on the role of businesses to make ethical commitments to attain the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) goal related to climate change by 2030. She makes a compelling case for the adoption of ethical principles, such as financial sacrifice for the common good; solidarity and rights for future generations. She further discusses the ethical values of openness and trust for businesses to incorporate in their climate/corporate responsibility frameworks.

The paper stresses the critical role of integrating ethics into business strategies to effectively  address the climate crisis.
